I have been using this site for a few years now and it is responsible for a good chunk of the traffic to my website. If you need to spread the news across the Web (product launch or anything else within your company) and get in front of consumers and journalists, quickly and easily, have a look at the http://uk.prweb.com/

The best bit here is that you are provided with the template which makes your life a lot easier when it comes to writing a press release. Just fill the blanks (write an anouncement about your organisation — a promotion, sponsorship, or product launch, for example –) and they’ll distribute it to major news sites and search engines, fast.

How you set up and optimize your profile provides the foundation to your LinkedIn marketing. Do this and make connections with other LinkedIn members before you do anything else.
LinkedIn will walk you through profile creation via an easy wizard – but it won’t give you tips on how to best set it up for local marketing.

Optimize Your Profile
Here’s what you need to know…

1. Research and find your best Keywords first.
Keywords are search terms people enter into social media and search engine Textarea search boxes, when they want to find information on any subject.
There are many proven ways to find your ideal keywords. Traditionally marketers most often use free or paid Keyword Tool.
The example of the free one would be Google’s AdWords Keyword Tool.
The AdWords Keyword Tool is important if you are also doing pay-per-click advertising, and both can provide eye-opening keyword opportunities… but do remember you are simply looking for what people will type into LinkedIn’s search box, when you decide on your keywords.

Here are three well-proven tips on the best way to find these…
• Just ask! If you send out Client Questionnaires, include a field that says: “How did you find us? (Internet search, local newspaper ad, personal recommendation, etc.)”
If yours is a retail store, ask your customers directly while you’re enjoying a comfortable chat. (“If you were trying to find a store like mine, what would you type in the search engine?”)
• Include the keyword most unique to your services (e.g. “income tax preparation”) and your location (e.g. “Manchester”)
• Use Google’s Autosuggest feature. Simply begin to type your most generic keyword or your location into Google’s search box, and see what suggestions drop down.

You simply copy-paste content from your competitors’ websites or company pages to gain a creative overview of the most commonly-recurring keywords…
What you do is pick out:
a) Words that repeat
b) Words presented in large text

2. Put Your Best Keywords in your LinkedIn Headline!
You may be reading this as a “title” – and do make sure you don’t violate any terms of service when you include keywords here – but it’s also your best and most powerful “real estate”… with the highest return.

3. Create a Custom URL for your Personal Profile
If not already taken, your actual name as your LinkedIn URL is one of your best ways to increase visibility – especially if you’re branding yourself rather than a company.

4. As too many people have already (correctly) said, this is “where you tell your Company’s story” (a.k.a. yours).
To get you started: Take a look at your Company’s Mission Statement (and if you don’t have one, create one, pronto!) What is your passion? What drives you? What made you get into your particular branch of business and create your Company and/or store?
And, most of all, why should the reader care? What’s “in it” for them?
Don’t sell – but do share.

5. Make sure you have more than 50% of your Profile filled in.
The more complete your Profile, the more value LinkedIn will assign you!

6. Set your Profile as “Public” and select “Full View”.
That way, you’ll have maximum exposure to those searching using your keywords

7. Connect with all relevant contacts.
This is easily done.

9. Make sure you fill out the “Current Job” section.
Even if you don’t consider running your own business a “job”. The “Current Job” section plays a major part in positively weighting your LinkedIn Profile.

10. Add your staff!
If you have staff members, their mini-profiles on your Company Page not only adds credibility to your Company as a thriving and successful endeavor, but their connections become yours.

11. Add relevant website links to your Profile.
(Make sure you use your keywords when naming these links.)

12. Make sure you upload a professional-quality headshot
– and that you are making eye contact in the picture with the viewer.

13. Include a “Call to Action” in Your LinkedIn Profile.
A “call to action” merely means asking the reader to do something… such as “visit my website”, “download my free book”, “send me an invitation!”, and so forth. (Always keep in mind your average industry member’s “character”: That’s how you’ll pick exactly the right type of call to action.)

14. Include an Event.
(As soon as you’ve created one.) And remember to promote it – including finishing off your summary with an invitation to attend the event “below”.

15. Fill out your full contact information.
The more phone numbers and email addresses you provide, the better, as far as LinkedIn is concerned. (It ups your “transparency” and credibility.)

16. Add Groups and Companies related to your interests!
Do this from your Settings page – the same one you accessed to change to a custom URL. Adding Groups and Companies increases the density of your Profile, adding their keyword and content power to how LinkedIn reads your Profile.

17. Edit Your Profile and Add Sections!
You can edit your own Profile any time you click on it. But be aware that one of the most important features – particularly for local business owners – recently added by LinkedIn is the ability to “Add Sections” to your Profile.

If you have any other suggestion please leave the comment below..

Thanks, Gordan

Twellow, at http://www.twellow.com, is one of the brilliant Twitter tools and is another great way of finding people to interact with. People here are categorized into all different areas and you can search for those with similar interests to your own.

The main page shows you all the categories, which then have sub categories as well. You just click on a category and the list of people in that area are displayed.

You don’t have to be registered with Twellow to be displayed, but at the time of writing there were nearly two million people showing on the site, so you will have plenty to choose from. By all means though, register yourself and set up a profile so others can find you.

When you click on a category, Twellow displays a list of people in that category and they are ordered by the number of followers they have. If you are already logged into Twitter via the web, you will be able to follow people directly from the screens where the profiles are displayed.

I hope this tool will help you reach new audience and develop new business relationships.
Remember that you have to take action and implement this tip!

I would appreciate your comments and your opinion about this tool.

When it comes to Internet Marketing one of the most important things that needs to happen is to get your business listed on websites that receive high levels of traffic. Doing this will provide you with the opportunities for your business to be seen by local customers and this in turn will help improve your chances of making those all important sales.

Today there are plenty of local directories to be found online that will allow you to advertise your business in a particular area. These are an excellent resource to use as they allow you to show your business off in a very highly targeted manner. Also local directories tend to be used by people who are having problems finding what it is they are exactly looking for. Therefore if your website has been listed correctly in the right categories then you are going to be in a far stronger position to entice potential customers to your real estate business.

When local customers start to look for products or services in their area, they are going to have it very clear in their mind about what it is they want. These are the kinds of customers you need to be targeting as these are the ones that are generally ready to make a purchase. One of the biggest benefits to be gained from the use of internet marketing is that it provides you with the ability to build up a relationship with someone without the need for you to speak directly with them ever.

By letting consumers find us in different locations across the internet a small business can be sure that they are reaching a much larger audience, all of whom will actually be interested in their product or service they provide.

The internet is an incredibly effective tool when it comes to selling products to potential customers. Never before have businesses been able to communicate so effectively with their potential customers.

The most common way that people will look for a website today is through the use of search engines. There are many different ones but the most popular ones are Google, Yahoo and Bing. So it is important that you target their results more than any other search engines. Below are some facts regarding search engine that you may not know about:

75% of all internet users who go online use search engines regularly.
56% of all internet users will use at least one kind of search engine every day.
40% of all the searches carried out using search engines today are for local businesses and services.
54% of all internet users will use the internet rather than a phone book to find local services
92% of all local searches carried out through search engines today will eventually convert into a sale

Up until recently the whole search engine industry used to be about the use of very short “keywords” that would help people to find the website they were looking for. Before people would simply type in things like “London Estate Agent” to a search engine. They would check out the first few results before making a decision on which ones to visit.

However these days’ consumers have become a great deal savvier when they use search engine to carry out searches online. As result of this the keywords being used to perform such searches have become progressively longer in order to provide them with results that are more relevant. Today for example rather than just typing in “London Estate Agent” that may offer details of some good websites for that keyword, they will tend to be looking for something far more specific.

Instead what happens is that they may well type in something like “London Low Price Apartments”. The reason they do this is because they are fed up with having to search through various websites that won’t provide them with information with regards to low cost housing. So what this means is that they actually use words that will ensure that they don’t have to spend time working their way through websites that are of no use to them at all.

This type of mentality has helped to revitalize the world of small businesses online. Instead of them just searching for a product or service, most people will now look for a niche product or service that is to be found in a particular area. What this in turn means is that the more well known bigger chains aren’t dominating the search engine results and this in turn means that more small businesses with their own websites are beginning to flourish.

When it comes to marketing your local business on the internet it is something that needs a large amount of experience and expertise to carry out. Without it such help then you simply won’t know about the ways that can help your business to appear on Google’s front page when customers local to your business are searching for your product or service. Also you will find that the competition won’t be as fierce as the keywords that you are competing for are more specific. However if you really want to see your local business succeed you must make sure that you are targeting the right kinds of local customers for it.

When you want to build an online presence the first step that you will take is going to be the building of a website to show your business off. You don’t need anything spectacular but rather it should be kept simple so that it provides those viewing it with clear information about the type of products or services that you provide. There is no need for you to fill your website with page after page of information about the industry which your business is part of. People visiting your site simply won’t find this type of stuff interesting.

What is important however is that your website does contain content that not only appeals to your audience but will be able to answer any questions that they may have.

When building a business website for your local business it doesn’t mean you have to break the mould. What it is about is proving to people that you have a business that they can trust and rely on. The best way of doing this isn’t through filling your website with lots of boring copy or facts that relates to the history of your company which others will not enjoy reading.

Go and have a look at some of the more well known companies websites and you will see that they have all recognised that they shouldn’t be too serious when creating a great online online presence as they need to appeal to various different audiences. This has resulted in them choosing to create websites that are far more diverse and which speak with a slightly less formal tone allowing them to build up a far better rapport and level of trust with those who choose to visit it.

Video marketing has become increasingly popular for small businesses to use. Research has been carried out and it clearly shows that people who view videos created by a company are more likely to visit their website or contact them by phone. In fact around 40% of all people who have viewed such will make contact with a business after viewing the video that the company has produced than those that haven’t.

When it comes to creating your own videos to market your local business it doesn’t need to be difficult. Making marketing videos is very easy to accomplish and can prove to be a great deal of fun. The main aim for you to make a video to market your local business is to enable you to create a relationship with any potential customers as well as helping you to spread the word regarding the properties or services that you offer.

When it comes to making a video to market your local business you need to ensure that your customers will find it interesting. If they realize that you are attempting to sell them something they will immediately turn elsewhere for help. So it is important that if you will be taking a starring role in your video marketing campaign that you just be you.

You should also make sure that you keep the videos short. Ones that last for around 3 to 4 minutes work really well. By keeping them short you will then be able to get your point across to your potential customers a lot quicker. If they run for more than 4 minutes then those viewing them will soon become bored and won’t bother to wait until the video has finished running to click on your link when it appears.

The first video you create should be the one that introduces your local business to your customers and also introduces you. However make sure that you include something within this video that will in turn cause them to carry out a certain action. What you need to remember is that the main aim of creating a video to market your business is in order for you to find potential new customers for it. So don’t forget to include information relating to where you are located and how they can make contact with you.
